Year of the Dog: Celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year in Disneyland

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Today is the Chinese New Year, so I wanted to share how lucky we were to experience the celebration in Disneyland a few weeks back.

It is the Year of the Dog (and if you know me, you know I LOVE dogs!) so it was great to be able to experience the festivities in the happiest place on Earth. Located on the pier in front of Mickey's Fun Wheel, there were marketplaces for food from countries that celebrate the Chinese New Year, including Korea, Vietnam, and China. There was also a very beautiful light and water show called Hurry Home preceding World of Color which was a great background while enjoying the eats that I got from the marketplace!

To be honest, there wasn't a big selection for vegetarian/vegan (you can see the full menu here) but the "Yachae Mandu - 야채만두"Steamed Vegetable Dumplings with Sesame-Garlic Soy Sauce from the Korea Marketplace were amazing! I also enjoyed the "Cà phê sữa đá" Vietnamese Iced Coffee from the Vietnam marketplace. The desserts looked amazing as well but I did not have a chance to try them. Maybe next year!!!

Have you visited Disneyland during their Chinese New Year celebration? What was your favorite part? We definitely didn't catch all the amazing activities that were taking place in honor of the Chinese New Year, but it is worth exploring if you plan to visit while the celebration is going on.
